North Carolina State Wolfpack Club Hosts Golf Outing

The Wolfpack Club hosted a Mecklenburg County Golf Outing earlier this month at Firethorne Country Club in Marvin.  It was brutally hot (over 100 degrees) with gatorade and water being the drinks of choice and the beer coolers remaining largely untouched - which might have been a first for one of our outings.

This fundraiser for the club raised money for Athletic Department scholarships and facilities.  It was also a great way to network with other local Alums.  Sidney Lowe, the Wolfpack’s new head men’s basketball coach, was in attendance and played in the foursome behind us.  My group didn’t play well (we came in dead last) but mine was the first raffle ticket called and I won a football signed by the new NCSU head football coach Tom O’Brien.

It was hot, but the course was beautiful and we had a great time.

I was talking to a client today whose daughter goes to State.  He mentioned to me she was coming home this weekend for the first time in some weeks and then we got to talking about football. Perhaps the autographed football I won at the Golf Tournament isn’t worth so much right now (as the Pack is currently 1 and 4), but we’ve always got next season (just like my Kansas City Chiefs who are barely 2 and 3 with not much hope in sight, although I will be going to KC for the Raiders game Thanksgiving weekend).  But I digress, the football may not be worth a lot but it sure looks good up on my bookshelf in my office at home.  Even better is that I had lunch with a buddy from school the other day who gave me the winning ticket to redeem, because he had to go home!

Got something to say?
