Ah….No more lawn mowing

How would you like to own your own home and have someone else do the yard work?  My home owners association dues covers just that and more!  Not only does it cover the yard but it also includes the swim club and play ground.  I live in a great community with some of the best schools around.  We have five shopping centers with in 5 minutes of our home and have easy access to the interstate.  I’ve said it before and I’ll continue to say it, "Living in Charlotte is like being on a permanent vacation" and oh by the way I just happen to go to work!

The Home Buying Process Made Easy!

Posted by: snyce | Comments (0)

Would you ever consider defending yourself in court?  How about being your own doctor?  I’m sure at one time or another we say, "I can sell my home," or, "I can find my home on my own.  I don’t need the help of a Realtor."  As a successful full time Realtor I can assure you that I earn my fees, just like any other professional.  My job is to be an advocate for you as my client!  In most cases I’ll tell you what not to do rather than what to do.

Being a good listener!  I’m here to make sure you’re heard.  I’m here to make sure that there isn’t any reason why you shouldn’t  buy the home that you’re in love with.

Classic client doesn’t listen to his agent Story!

I was working with a client  to find them a home.  This home was just beautiful in most ways.  My client was caught up in the setting as the home backed up to a pond and overlooked the 9th green.  Upon checking the topo maps I noticed that the home in question sat directly over the FEMA flood line.  Not just located within the flood plain but directly on the flood line. I told them to not purchase the home because of the flood line, sitting lower than the pond and lower than the golf course.  In fact I told them 3 times.  I even wrote them a letter objecting to them buying the home as their agent.  So what did they do?  They bought it any way and the first inch of rain the rear yard was completely under water!

Lesson to be learned?  Always listen to your Realtor.

It hasn’t changed much!  Having moved my family here 25 years ago, I know.  First of all there wasn’t an internet as we know it today.  The process was loaded with unknowns but the concerns were still the same.  "Where are the best schools" was the most often asked questions and "will I fit" in came second.  Let me tell you nothing has changed in 25 years.  The questions are still the same, the concerns are still there.  The best way to take care of those issues are to work with a professional Realtor®.  The internet has made the process of finding a home and schools much easier.

Are you looking to relocate?  Do you need the guidance of a professional?

Sending me your questions and we’ll respond.

Enjoying learning about the greater Charlotte area!

There are times when all I want is a a burger or sub and wash it down with my favorite soft drink.  Then there are times when I have to make a tough choice and select a place to dine.  So what am I saying?  Is it a tough choice because there are so few?  To the contrary, there are so many fine places to dine.  The list of types, styles and settings continues to grow.  Growing up on Long Island in the sixty’s we had our favorites or should I say my parents did!

The past 25 years have brought us far more than one would have expected.  Charlotte has grown into a world class city in many ways and dining out is one of them.  My wife and I even argue as to where to go for supper.

Do you have a favorite dining experience?  Are you moving here or visiting on business or pleasure and looking for that special place to dine?  I’m happy to make recommendations if you like.  Comments are appreciated.

Remember what it was like to play catch with your dad or play in a Little League game? Did you ever wish you could throw like Whitey Ford or be the next Mantle or Maris.  Then all of a sudden the summers turn into years and the years go by so fast that you’re now a parent.

Last evening as I do so often I went to Knights Stadium to watch the Charlotte Knights (AAA team of the Chicago Whitesox) battle the Yankees.  It was so great! We sat under the stars, rooted for our favorite team and thought back to the time when I was a kid growing up on Long Island in the 50’s and 60’s.  What a great thing to do, a great place to do it and a picture perfect evening!  Ah Charlotte, it doesn’t get any better!

So when you miss playing catch or going to the school yard to choose up sides and hearing the crack of the bat, you can take a loved one to the ballpark and remember what it was like when you were a kid!

A contributing editor for Charlotte Magazine seems to think there is.  Well, I’ve lived here for over 25 years, raised my family and think Charlotte is the best city I have ever lived in!  Born and raised on Long Island New York in 1950 I think I’ve pretty much seen it all.  I’ve lived in Cleveland Ohio, Washington D.C and then to this great city, and I do mean great.  Look, this isn’t Mayberry but we are a growing and we are experiencing some of the results of that growth.  The writer of an article which appeared in Charlotte magazine seems to think that the public officials are oblivious to crime.  As long as we have crime and we will, people will always think that enough is not being done to address the problem.

Yes, I do have a vested interest in Charlotte.  I live here and make my living from individuals and families moving here.  If you haven’t figured it out yet, I’m a Realtor with Prudential Carolinas Realty. But I haven’t forgotten my main responsibility which is that of a father and husband.  If Charlotte has a "crime problem" as the writer thinks let them make a difference!  Placing a bullet on the front cover of their June issue does not solve the problem, make the officials more aware or hold parents to be more responsible for their children actions!  If it was as easy as flipping a switch it would have happened by now.

I’d like to know what you think.  Are you considering a relocation to the Charlotte area?  Do you believe everything that’s printed or do you wish to hear from someone that’s been here for the past 25+ years, raised their family and has no intentions of ever leaving.  Living and working in Charlotte is like being on a permanent vacation.  If you are here or thinking about moving I’d like to hear from you.

Charlotte Relocation— Why Here?

Posted by: snyce | Comments (2)

When I moved my family here twenty five years ago this was a sleepy southern city that was just beginning to awaken.  Then the changes started to happen!  Tell me some of the changes you’ve seen since moving here.  The business climate and housing market have seen the largest of those changes.  Job opportunities are endless from the I.T. field to health care, education, creative ends and on and on.  Housing continues to grow despite the gloom and doom that we keep reading about.   I’ve owned three homes in Charlotte in the past 25 years, have made a large profit on each one and continue to realize strong gains on the one we are currently in.

So why do I stay? The people, the weather, the business and social climate, the excitement of a quality way of life for my family, the educational opportunities (great universities and colleges) and finally great places to dine.  Yes I said dine.  When I first arrived 25 years ago I knew the difference between the North and the South.  In the South we went out to eat and in the North we dined!  Now we can dine in the best of ways.  Dinner can now be an experience with out door dining and a bottle of fine wine.  Need I say more?

So why else do I stay? Let’s see.  My wife has a great career, I have a career that’s second to none, my children have finished graduate school and their careers are off and running.  We live and own a home that would sell for more than a million dollars on Long Island but sells for far less here and so much less snow that I have dust on my snow shovel that I almost can’t recognize it.

So why did you come here?  You’ve heard some of my reasons let’s hear some of yours.  Did you leave because the weather was awful or the cost of housing has gotten out of control?  Have the taxes in your former city eaten you alive?

Let’s here from you.  Share your experiences.  Tell your story.

Located in the exciting community of Brandon Oaks, this 4 bedroom, 2.5 bath home shows like a model!  The immaculate condition and designer wall finishes belie the fact that it was built in 2002.  Features include formal living and dining rooms, a morning room addition that is no longer available as an option, and an enlarged family room (another option that has been discontinued).  A covered front porch leads to a sun bathed 2-story foyer.  The formal areas are separate from the family areas of the home.  At the back, the spacious family room is partially open to the kitchen and morning room.  A pass-through window from the kitchen to the morning room makes it easy to converse while preparing meals.  The deck was upgraded when the home was built, and looks out over the wooded back yard.
